Audience

Students in Wichita Falls who are dreaming of studying in Germany for one or more semesters are the main address for our study booklet about Germany. But also students who plan to travel to Germany for vacation will read it. All in all, all students who have some kind of connection or interest in Germany will appreciate it if there is something like a study booklet.University of Heidelberg
I think we can expansion the circle of the audience of the booklet to the parents of the students and maybe even to the family of the Wichita Fall's Air Force members who are supposed to go to Germany for several years.

But the principal reader for our proposal will be the international office because they have to decide whether we are allowed to create a booklet about Germany or not.

It is important that students have easy access to the booklet. Thus it should be available in all places where they expect it.
This can be the international office, the German club and the web page. All professors who are teaching German and all who help students to study abroad should know that there is a study booklet.

Problem and Opportunity

If you are looking for information about Germany and simply put "Germany" in the search box of Google, you will get more than 418 million results. Here is the problem: It is very easy to get information but the result is much to large. The stStudy Abroadudents don't know for what they need to look for and which information is really important for them. For example students can read something about the history of Germany or the different states of Germany but this does not help much if they need information about the different kinds of universities and "surviving as an exchange student in Germany".
In addition there is absolutely no information on the web-page of mwsu available.

This is where our study booklet comes in. We want to present all relevant information in one place. This contains among others information about the German culture, the different kind of universities and some insider tips (for example: as an american you would be surprised about your first exam: there are no multiple choice questions and maybe 5% of the German students have a car, not 95%. So there is only one parking lot and of course you cannot drive with your car around the campus, you have to go).

Our study booklet will help interested students to find all relevant information in one place and in addition some information which they cannot find in the internet.
Our very ambitious goal is to increase the percentage of students who are going to Germany.

Research Strategies

In order to base our proposal and our study booklet on different resources we will use both primary and secondary strategies.
Primary resources help us direct information from students. Therefor we can do surveys to find out why students are or are not going to Germany and we can do an interview with students who have been in Germany and what surprised or "shocked" them most about this country.
Secondary resources as the internet will help us to find information about Germany (the Internet) and the relationship Germany/ Texas/WF.

Purpose of Proposal

The purpose of our proposal is to request authorization and funding to create a study booklet which presents Germany in order to help students to get all the required information at a single glance and a first impression of this country.
