Group 6 - Weight Training - Technical Writing WikiMembers: Jesse, Breann, Ronnie

Audience:
Our audience will be students interested in learning to better their health by weight training. The information could be found either on the MSU website or at the front desk of the wellness center. The President at the Wellness Center could give us information, or even some of the more experienced lifters. We hope they would find the information helpful, and they could contact us with questions if needed.

Problem or Opportunity:
The problem will be improper dieting and lifting. We see inexperienced students lifting incorrectly every day. Our group could use this as an opportunity to give out information on proper dieting and exercise.

Research Strategies:
By asking advice from experienced lifters, we would have primary information, and using books or magazines we would have secondary information. We could ask some of the managers or the president of the wellness center for permission to give out this particular information.

Purpose of Proposal:
We are proposing the idea of making proper exercise and dieting information more readily available to MSU students.

Research questions:
  • Would more students go to the wellness center to workout if there was information about weight training?
  • Are students who are lifting incorrectly, getting hurt while doing so? Are they seeing any positive results?
  • Is there already information about weight training and dieting at the wellness center?
  • How much will it cost to provide this information?
  • How should we provide the information?
  • What do supplements provide that your body does not?
  • What are the proper supplement servings to take in respect to your workout length?
A8 Artifact:
For our artifact we have attached a brochure of important lifting techniques and dieting habits, and also a PowerPoint of the important lifting techniques.
The students will be able to access this information at the wellness center. The brochures can be found at the front desk of the wellness center, and the students can pick one up either when they come in or when they leave. The students will be able to view the PowerPoint slide on the TVs in the wellness center. They can watch this before they begin lifting weights or while in the process of their lifting, so they can determine what they are doing wrong.
