2/25 10:50 am
A few students have said they could not view the tutorial in the
Net.Tutor link without registering as an OSU student. I went to BW117 (the computer writing lab) and typed in
http://liblearn.osu.edu/ and had no trouble accessing the tutorial and was not asked to log in or register. If you have difficulty from a computer lab on campus, you might try typing in the url instead of clicking on the link or going to aother computer lab such as BW117, where we know it works just fine.
2/19/2010Schedule has been slightly revised-take note.
Week 6 focuses on Secondary Source research strategies and is divided into two sections: conducting internet searches and using academic databases.
- Read pages 113-132 in Ch.6.
- Read Week Six-Research Strategies in this wiki.
By the end of class (Tuesday, for campus class and Wednesday for online class),
each student will complete a Memo to the instructor (see p.378 on writing Memos) which provides answers to the questions/prompts in the
Guidelines. As you gain more knowledge about your subject and refine your approach to the topic, you will revise this Memo and add it to your wiki page.
Campus Class, 2/18/2010:
Today's class will take place entirely on the wiki and will be directed by you students. Use the discussion board during class time to organize your research group and test whether your idea will make a good research project. The guidelines linked below will help you answer criticalquestions to focus your group's project and activities.I will be "lurking" throughout the period inserting questions and suggestions in
the discussion topics. (I also have gmail open for chat, but only for 'emergency')
9:20 Class is officially over. I did not post comments to topics which had 1 or no replies. Continue this assignment
for homework until all guideline questions are answered.
Remember the requirement to be completed before the end of class: "Brainstorm
answers to the prompts with your group in the discussion board. By the end of the class period, make
sure you have provided the following information..."
